Things to Do
Clayton After Dark: Spirits & Stories
A self-guided downtown evening of old buildings, local legends, and restaurant stops.
Check current service, reservations, and conditions before you go.
Ed’s Mudville Grill
Begin with a bite and conversation. Menu examples: the restaurant’s linked 2025 menu lists Mac’s Famous Watermelon Cooler, zucchini sticks, Best Day Brewing non-alcoholic beer and the San Diego Chicken sandwich. Ask about current availability. Check Ed’s current record.
Endeavor Hall
Pause outside from the public sidewalk. Historical Society history and the City’s incorporation history describe its role in performances, celebrations, civic life, and Clayton’s 1964 incorporation vote.
Moresi’s Chophouse
Make dinner the long stop. In a Pioneer history column, Historical Society board member Debbie Eistetter recounts a Growler story later associated with an apparition in white. Treat it as Clayton folklore.
Menu examples: the linked November 2025 drinks menu lists Growler Margarita, Bocce Balls, City Slicker and crème brûlée; the linked April 2024 dinner menu lists filet mignon. Ask about current availability. Check Moresi’s current record.
Clayton Club Saloon
Finish from the public sidewalk at a business whose origins the Historical Society dates to around 1873. HauntedPlaces collects anecdotal reports of moving objects, changing lights, and cold spots; treat its haunted reputation as folklore.
Matt reported the Clayton Club open again after its remodel on September 26, 2026. This outing uses the public sidewalk; hours aren’t posted here, so check before planning a drink stop.
Before you go
Choose a main meal at Ed’s or Moresi’s. Alcohol is for adults 21+; arrange a sober ride home and stay on public sidewalks.
